The regatta will be organised by the International Maxi Association (IMA) in collaboration with the Yacht Club Capri (YCC). The TP52s have been invited to take part in the regatta which will be included in the 52 Super Series.
The title sponsor of the Regatta is Rolex.
1.1 The regatta will be governed by:
– the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS 2013 – 2016);
– the 2014 IMA Class rules;
– the 2014 TP52 Rule, Bylaws and Interpretations for TP52s;
– the 52 Super Series 2014 Rules for TP52s and IRC52 Wild Card boats;
– the Sailing Instructions including Appendices;
– no National Authority prescriptions will apply except Part 6 of prescriptions of the FIV (Italian Sailing Federation), which will apply only to Italian nationals.
Additions/Exceptions for both IMA and 52 Super Series:
– change RRS 55 by adding the following sentence: “However discarding wool or elastic bands when setting sail is permitted”.
For the Maxi boats:
a) the ISAF Offshore Special Regulations Category 3 with life raft compulsory on board, but subject to the following amendment: jackstays are not required (amends. OSR 4.04) except for the offshore race.
b) IMA Class Rule 2.4.3 is modified to remove the restriction on the number of sails that may be carried on board during the regatta. Boats are free to carry any number of sails during the races as long as they are declared on the sail inventory at registration.
c) IRC Rules Parts A, B and C shall apply. For the purposes of IRC rules 21.1.5 (d) and (e) this regatta is on consecutive days, yet the sails carried on board need not remain the same for the duration of the event but sails need to remain the same for each day. The day begins when the boat leaves the dock for the first time on the day.
For the 52 Super Series:
a) the SIs shall give the wind speed limit for class rule C.1.2.a.
b) add to RRS 41 OUTSIDE HELP: (e) help to recover from the water and return on board any person on board, provided the return on board is at the approximate location of the recovery.
1.2 The official language for the regatta is English.
1.3 In the event of a discrepancy between the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing Instructions take precedence. This changes rule 63.7.
2.1 Boats may display advertising in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20, Advertising Code. Boats shall display Event Advertising in compliance with ISAF Regulation 20 and as detailed in the Sailing Instructions.
2.2 Boats will be required to display the following throughout the period starting one hour after the completion of registration and ending one hour after the prize giving following the last race of the regatta:
(a) Sponsor’s pennant on the backstay;
(b) Sponsor’s decal on each side of the bow.
2.3 In addition boats may be required to display the event battle flag and a sponsor pennant on the forestay throughout the same period but only while moored.
2.4 The Organizing Authority may supply the pennants, decals and flag at registration.
2.5 The Organizing Authority may also require the installation, at no cost to competitors, of on board video cameras for the official television production and/or a tracking system.
2.6 Boats intending to display advertising during the regatta shall state in the entry form the nature of such advertising.
2.7 Boats are responsible to inform advertisers and sponsors that no activities advertising any brand will be permitted ashore within Capri – Marina Grande area without the consent in writing of the Organizing Authority obtained before the start of the Regatta.
The regatta is open to all Maxi Boats as defined in the IMA Rules 2014 and to TP52s and Wild Card IRC52s as defined by the 52 Super Series 2014 Rules. Maxi boats must have a valid 2014 IRC rating certificate approved by the IMA Technical Office. TP52s must have a valid 2014 TP52 Certificate, IRC52s must have a valid 2014 IRC Certificate and a TP52 Class confirmed Wild Card invitation. Participants must complete the event entry form and transmit it to the IMA Race Secretariat (info@ internationalmaxiassociation.com) to be received on or before 31 March, 2014.
The non-refundable entry fee for IMA members is 1,500 Euros. The entry fee for maxi boats owned by non IMA Members is 3,000 Euros. The entry fee for 52 Super Series competitors is 1,200 Euros. Fees should be transmitted by 20 April, 2014 to:

Measurement controls and safety inspections of Maxi boats will take place in Capri on Sunday 18 May. Controls and inspection of 52s take place in Capri from Saturday 17 May as regulated in the 52 Super Series 2014 Rules. Registration documents must be completed with the Organizing Authority prior to 17:00 on 18 May, 2014.

Valid rating certificates, either a 2014 IRC certificate or TP52 certificate, shall be received by the IMA Technical Office prior to 1700 GMT on Friday 10 May, 2014.

The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration; a preliminary version may be available on the IMA website.
The regatta will be held in the waters off Capri, Italy, and the southern Mediterranean.
10.1 The race for the Maxi fleet starting on Monday 19 May will be a long offshore race from Capri around the Southern Mediterranean.
10.2 W/L races are courses between buoys with mainly windward/leeward legs.
10.3 Coastal races are non-WL courses identified as Coastal courses by the Sailing Instructions. Details of the courses will be included in the Sailing Instructions.
10.4 Scheduled races will include for the 52 Super Series boats a maximum of 1 Coastal race and 9 WL races. Both fleets shall not race more than 3 W/L races in any single day.
10.5 The Organizing Authority reserves the option to modify the race schedule based on weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
11.1 For the Maxi boats the Low Point Scoring System as described in RRS Appendix A shall apply except that there will be no discards.
11.2 For the Maxi boats there will be an overall IRC score for the fleet, and additional scoring for the IMA categories where there are at least four (4) competitors. The assignment of the entries to one or the other IMA category will be done by the IMA Technical Office with reference to IMA Class Rules. The offshore race and final race on Saturday May 24 will be weighted.
11.3 For the 52 Super Series only:
a) The Low Point Scoring System as described in RRS Appendix A shall apply for the 52 Super Series races. There shall be no discards.
b) The points multiplier for the 52 Super Series Coastal race scoring is 1.0.
c) For the 52 Super Series only a boat that did not confirm her participation or was not present at the event shall be scored points for the finishing place one more than the number of boats entered in the event. This changes RRS A9.
12.1 An International Jury will be appointed in accordance with RRS Appendix N. All decisions will be final as per RRS 70.4.
12.2 Redress Limitation: a boat may only request redress when racing at an event; redress may be granted for this event only and shall not be given for a greater number of races than that boat completes in that particular event.
12.3 52 Super Series: see 52 Super Series 2014 Rule 16. The event intends to have umpiring. ISAF will be asked permission to change the RRS for 52 Super Series 2014 events in a modified version of Addendum Q.
13.1 The entry fee includes the mooring expenses for boat and one support tender and the parking of one van for Mini Maxis, Maxis and TP/IRC52s in Capri – Marina Grande from Thursday 16 May till Sunday 25 May ; Supermaxis and boats with substantial depth may be moored on buoys in the bay, with complete services and assistance (refueling, shuttle service, garbage, etc). Container storage and additional parking will be provided as much as possible at Marina Grande and then at an “overflow area” until capacity runs out.

13.3 Per 40ft container a storage fee of EUR 400 – will be charged. All other charges, such as use of crane, power, water or taxes are supplied at cost. Parking for extra vans at Marina Grande EUR 250 – per van for the indicated period. Your storage/parking requirements shall be indicated on the entry form and the final arrangements for transportation and storage of containers at Marina Grande need to be made with Yacht Club Capri, email@example.com.
13.4 The O.A. will facilitate “within reason” the use of the events press facilities for one dedicated media representative of the 52 Super Series teams.

14.1 Boats may not be hauled out after the 16th of May until the finish of the final race without prior permission of the Jury. For the 52 Super Series cleaning in the water is permitted for divers registered with the O.A.
14.2 For 52 Super Series see 2014 Rule 15Coach / Support boats shall be registered on the Entry Form.
All boats shall be equipped with a Marine VHF transceiver capable of operating on VHF channel 9, 16 and 72. It will be mandatory that on the offshore race, all boats will give a position report with the race committee at 0800 and 2000 daily. It is the boat’s responsibility to have adequate equipment to transmit positions when out of cell phone range. For regatta communications, the Organizing Authority will request en-route contact information of the boats during the offshore race: cell phone, satellite phone, and/or email.
Trophies will be awarded to the Maxi classes according to entries, with the Rolex Perpetual Trophy being awarded to the overall series winner of both inshore and offshore races. Prizes will be awarded for the winners, on corrected time, in each category where there are at least four (4) competitors. It is planned to award separate prizes to Racer and Racer-cruisers in the Mini-maxi category. For the 52 Super Series overall prizes will be awarded for the event: 1st , 2nd, 3rd and Owner Driver.
17.1 Competitors agree to be bound by International Sailing Federation Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2013-2016, by the Sailing Instructions and the Notice of Race. The Rules of RRS Part 2 shall not apply between the times of local sunset and sunrise and shall be replaced with the right of way rules of IRPCAS (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea). Competitors agree that the sole and inescapable responsibility for the nautical qualities of any yacht participating in the ROLEX CAPRI SAILING WEEK 2014, her rigging, the safety equipment on board and the competence of her crew is that of the Owner/Charterer of the yacht. The Owner/Charterer and crew will be held jointly responsible for the conduct of the yacht’s crew before, during and after a race. Misconduct may result in both the Owner/Charterer and crew being excluded from future races and renders a boat liable to disqualification. Competitors shall agree to take any and all responsibility for all damages whatsoever caused to third persons or their belongings, or to themselves and their belongings, ashore and at sea as consequence of their participation in the regatta, and hereby relieve from any responsibility, and agree to indemnify on a full indemnity basis and hold harmless, the Organizing Authority, International Maxi Association (IMA), Yacht Club Capri, TP52 Class, its servants, agents, sub-contractors and sponsors (in particular but not limited to ROLEX SA and affiliated companies) and their representatives in respect of any claim arising therefrom.
17.2 Competitors are to be acquainted with ISAF Part 1 Fundamental Rule 4: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.”
17.3 Competitors agree that the Organizing Authority, IMA, Yacht Club Capri, TP52 Class, its servants, agents and sponsors (in particular but not only ROLEX SA and affiliated companies) and their representatives have no responsibility for loss of life or injury to members or others, or for the loss of, or damage to any vessel or property.
17.4 As part of the registration process, each individual participating crew member will be required to sign a declaration accepting this disclaimer of liability.
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance with adequate cover taking into account the value of the boats racing and the measure of damages likely to arise in the event of an accident.
19.1 Competitors and crew members on the competing yachts grant, at no cost, IMA, Yacht Club Capri, TP52 Class and ROLEX SA and affiliated companies the absolute right and permission to use their name, voice, image, likeness, biographical material as well as representations of the boats in any media (being television, print and internet media), including video footage, for the sole purposes of advertising, promoting, reporting and disseminating information relating to ROLEX SA’s involvement in sailing events, in particular the ROLEX CAPRI SAILING WEEK 2014 (“the regatta”), and to the competitors and crew members’ participation in such events. Competitors and crew members on the competing yachts also grant, at no cost, ROLEX SA and affiliated companies, the absolute right and permission to use their name, image, likeness, biographical material as well as representations of the boats in the “Perpetual Spirit ” magazine, edited by ROLEX SA.
19.2 As part of the registration process, each individual participating crew member will be required to sign a declaration accepting this waiver of rights.
The Organizing Authority will provide the Maxi fleet, free of charge, an automatic position reporting system which will be displayed on the IMA website for competitors and media. Similarly 52 Super Series will provide tracking and live commentary for the 52 fleet, which will be displayed on www.52superseries.com.
21.1 The O.A. reserves the right to amend this Notice of Race.
21.2 Any amendments of this NOR made prior to 17 May 2014 will be communicated by email to those owners whose entries have been accepted and posted on the ONB from 17 May 2014. Copies will be available at the Race Office.
